We hope that your October is off to a wonderful start! As this year's crisp autumn comes to
visit, many of us might find pleasure and comfort in bundling up with a nice snack and a hot
drink. We are grateful for our volunteers and supporters who contribute their time and
donations to provide their community the warm drinks, clothes, and hot meals that we love to

At this time we would like to extend a special Thank You to Jennie Vital for her time as the board chair with the Friday Night Supper Program, and her diligent work contributing to her community. Jennie has been a critical stabilizing force over the last two years as we have navigated through the pandemic and several staff transitions. FNSP is very grateful to have had such a strong yet calm leader throughout her time as board chair. Thank you, Jennie! We wish you prosperity and happiness in whatever new adventures may come next.

We hope that June is off to a great start for you! At FNSP, we are excited for the arrival of summer when we add a lot of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables to our weekly menu! A very special thank you to our partners and friends at Arlington Street Church who collected more than $1,000 to support FNSP through their Sunday Worship Offertory collection! We are expanding our Board of Directors as we prepare to start planning our 40th Anniversary which we'll celebrate in 2024. Please read on to learn more about recent happenings at FNSP!

We are excited by the arrival of May with warmer temperatures and longer days! Our Kitchen Manager, Elaina, along with our volunteers have been cooking up some delicious meals each Friday (check out the pictures below.) Our partners at Boston Healthcare for the Homeless were back last week offering Covid boosters for guests and volunteers. We've also had help from many great volunteer groups this month!
Greetings FNSP Friends!
Spring has arrived and it feels like summer is close behind. We are excited to celebrate our FNSP volunteers in this newsletter as the nation celebrates National Volunteer Month. We truly appreciate each and every one of our volunteers- without your service, we couldn't do the work we do!
Greetings FNSP Friends!
We hope the year is going well for you- it's hard to believe that March is already here! In this newsletter, we are excited to introduce, Aaidaliz Perez, FNSP's new Program Director. You can read more about Aaida below.
Though it has been a relatively mild winter, we have held dinner service during some brutally cold weather this winter. We are grateful to be able to provide hot soup, hot coffee, hot, nutritious food, and a warm place to get some respite from the winter weather to our guests. We are also grateful to our staff and volunteers who ensure that we are open EVERY Friday without fail, even during inclement weather. If you would like to join us on a Friday, we still have some volunteer openings in March.
We are excited to share that we have hired a new, permanent Program Manager, Aaidaliz Perez, who will begin on Friday, January 27th. We are excited to welcome Aaidaliz to the program and look forward to introducing her more fully in the next couple of weeks. We also want to express how grateful we are to Suzanne Rappaport who stepped in as our interim Program Director in October and has done a phenomenal job managing the program. Suzanne will continue to work with Aaidaliz over the next few weeks. Thank you, Suzanne!
We are delighted to introduce Elaina Smith, who started on December 9th as FNSP's new Kitchen Manager! As we wrap up 2022, November and December have been very busy at FNSP. We started our annual "Warm and Dry Feet" program where we distribute winter boots and socks to our guests.
In this newsletter, we are excited to share our Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2022. Please take some time to read about what we've been up to this last year. A special thank you goes out to the Jones Lippincott Family Foundation, FactSet, PCA, and the Greater Boston Food Bank who made generous donations this month to sponsor our holiday meals and support our ongoing operations.
With the changing leaves, October has brought some changes to FNSP. In this newsletter, we introduce Suzanne Rappaport, who is serving as our Interim Program Director until early December. Suzanne is a long-time volunteer who knows the ins and outs of the program. We are so grateful to have her support during this time! FNSP is currently hiring for the Program Director and Kitchen Manager positions.
In this newsletter, we are excited to highlight Theresa Lam, one of our regular volunteers who has deepened her involvement with FNSP by joining our Operations Committee as Volunteer Ambassador and ZS Cares, one our September Corporate Meal Sponsor Teams. We also spotlight Peggy Burns, a long-time FNSP volunteer and board member who transitioned off the Board this September at the end of her third three-year term.
Friday Night Supper Program can rightfully be called one of Back Bay’s most-consistent unsung heroes, faithfully serving hot, nutritious meals once a week since 1984 to Boston’s homeless and extremely low-income residents from the Arlington Street Church, and after pivoting to providing hot to-go meals during the pandemic, it will resume offering seated, family-style dinners at the church again Friday, June 25.
Boston, June 3, 2021 – Friday Night Supper Program is one of 140 local nonprofits to receive grants of $100,000 to $500,000 each through Cummings Foundation’s $25 Million Grant Program. The Boston - based organization was chosen from a total of 590 applicants during a competitive review process. It will receive $100,000 over 10 years.
Happy New Year Friday Night Supper Friends and Family!
As we bid farewell to the past year and eagerly embrace the possibilities that lie ahead, we wanted to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to each and everyone who has played a vital role in making FNSP a beacon of hope and positive change.
