Friday Volunteer Opportunities (FNSP is open every Friday of the year.)
Kitchen Shift: 12-5pm, may include: Cooking, chopping, organizing inventory, cleaning and maintenance of kitchen.
Day Time Set Up: 1:30-4pm, may include: Setting up the dining area, setting up to go bags, setting up our distribution area, setting up clothing closet.
Evening Shift: 5-8pm, may include: Serving our guests restaurant style, aiding in clothing sorting or distribution, packing out to go meals, distributing goods to guests, cleaning, running meals, lifting heavy bins of clothing (please indicate if you would prefer not to).
Volunteers are needed each week to ensure the success of the meal, while also providing friendly service to our guests. There are many different jobs and they range from dishwashing, serving guests, to working in the clothing closet. Immediately following the meal, volunteers are needed to bus the tables and clean the hall.
ORIENTATION FOR VOLUNTEERS - Evening Shift
There is a mandatory orientation required for all volunteers, and we require that you arrive by 5:00pm to ensure that you have time to sign in and attend orientation. Volunteers who arrive after 5:15pm will be asked to join us on a different night. New day time volunteers will receive an on-the-spot orientation when they arrive for their shift.
Please be sure to tell the director if you have any limitations on mobility at the beginning of the volunteer session. Volunteers are encouraged to engage in conversation with our guests. We pride ourselves on our delicious and healthy meals, but also the friendly service we provide to our guests!

Our Volunteers
FNSP relies on its volunteers to bring a weekly meal to those in need. It is volunteers who give the program its strength and character and who have been instrumental in ensuring the program runs every Friday!
Volunteering provides a meaningful and convenient way for people to give back to the community, and it is a wonderful way to meet and work with people who share your concern for helping others. Volunteering also provides a valuable educational opportunity for individuals and groups who want to learn more about and advocate for food justice and homelessness.
